<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical data storage medium capable of supporting many data layers without affecting other data layers during writing and reading stages in the storage medium recording holographic data storage, especially a limited volume holographic micro reflection body, and to provide an optical data storage method using the optical data storage medium. <P>SOLUTION: The optical data storage medium comprises a non-linear sensitizer capable of absorbing actinic radiation to cause upper triplet energy transfer to a reactant that undergoes change upon triplet excitation.
