PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substance for preventing human cancer, some sort of noncancerous hormone-dependent disorder and/or cardiac disorder.

SOLUTION: The substance is pharmaceutical products, food additives and food containing hydroxymatairesinol. Prevention of human cancer, some sort of noncancerous hormone-dependent disorder and/or cardiac disorder by hydroxymatairesinol and prevention of human cancer, some sort of noncancerous hormone-dependent disorder by the increase in the concentration of enterolactone or other metabolic products of hydroxymatairesinol in human blood serum by hydroxymatairesinol is disclosed.
