<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of burr, microcracks or deformation of an edge part in the splitting of transparent polymer film stretched in the width direction. <P>SOLUTION: Before splitting, a portion of the transparent polymer film 31 to be slit is heated by infrared irradiation, and slitting the transparent polymer film with a slitting blade 42. The wavelength of infrared ray is controlled to 0.5-2.5μm. The heating temperature T(°C) is controlled to 60°C≤T≤Tg when the glass transition temperature of the transparent polymer film is defined by Tg(°C).
