The device (1) has a thermoelectric generator producing electricity when a temperature gradient closely lies between two exterior surfaces. One of the exterior surfaces evenly lies at a thermal contact surface (10) of thermal energy storage (2) such that a thermal connection is formed between the exterior surfaces. The energy storage has a recording device (14) recording a thermal volume change of fluid, and is formed from a flexible material or as rubber ball. A distance adjusting unit (9) adjusts a distance between the exterior surface and the contact surface. An independent claim is also included for a method for production of energy.
