A sustained release particle obtained by: dissolving a hydrophobic compound having an antibiotic activity, which has a melting point of 100°C or lower and shows a dipole-dipole force component (dp,compound) of the solubility parameter (d), the solubility parameter (d) being defined as Hansen solubility parameter and calculated by the van Klevelen and Hoftyzer method, of 2-8 [(J/cm3)1/2] and a hydrogen-bonding force component (dh,compound) of the solubility parameter (d) of 5.5-9.5 [(J/cm3)1/2], in a hydrophobic polymerizable vinyl monomer in the absence of a solvent to give a hydrophobic solution; dispersing the hydrophobic solution in water; and radical-polymerizing the polymerizable vinyl monomer in the presence of a fat-soluble initiator to thereby form a polymer which shows a dipole-dipole force component (dp,polymer) of the solubility parameter (d) of 5-7 [(J/cm3)1/2] and a hydrogen-bonding force component (dh,polymer) of the solubility parameter (d) of 8-10 [(J/cm3)1/2].
|
