MULTIMEDIA REPRODUCING APPARATUS AND METHOD OF DISPLAYING BACKGROUND IMAGE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sense of immersion into a virtual space provided by a multimedia reproducing apparatus.

SOLUTION: A menu screen generating section generates image data of a menu screen 50 included in a list of reproduction items of digital content. A reproduction screen generating section reproduces the digital content, and generates the image data of the reproduction image including information relating to the reproduction content. A background image generating section generates and displays a background area 160 on which a decorative object 162 drifting in the three-dimensional space is drawn as the background image for the menu screen and reproduction screen. The background image generating section changes the background area 160 by using a video for obtaining a visual effect of immersing in the back of the three-dimensional space from a user's perspective along a transition from the menu screen to the reproduction screen when obtaining the reproduction order from the user.
