<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a gas hydrate suitable for long-term storage, wherein self-preservability of the gas hydrate is high and decomposition of the gas hydrate is highly suppressed. <P>SOLUTION: In the method for producing a gas hydrate, a gas hydrate is produced by reacting raw material water containing ions obtained when an electrolyte is dissociated in a solution, as a material having a function to suppress decomposition of the gas hydrate, with a hydrate-forming material.
