PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence hand operation failure at a switching time from normal rotation driving to reverse rotation driving, in an analog electronic timepiece performing retrograde hand operation. SOLUTION: This circuit includes a stepping motor 102 for driving a chronograph hand, and a control means performing retrograde hand operation of the chronograph hand by switching and driving the driving of the stepping motor 102 from normal rotation driving to reverse rotation driving.
