PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a detergent composition which is excellent in quality and especially in solubility at a low temperature, and comprises a functional particle, and in the manufacturing method of which the degree of freedom of a manufacturing process and the degree of freedom of design of the detergent composition are improved. SOLUTION: The method of manufacturing the detergent composition includes: a process (I): a process which mixes a base particle group for carrying a surfactant and a water-soluble salts particle group 1 whose particle strength is less than 100 kgf/cm<SP>2</SP>to obtain a particle group; a process (II): a process which makes the particle group obtained at the process (I) carry a surfactant composition; a process (III): a process which adds a surface coating agent to the particle group obtained at the process (II) to obtain a detergent particle group; and a process (IV): a process which adds a cleaning component to the detergent particle group obtained at the process (III), wherein a water-soluble salts particle group 2 whose particle strength is 100 kgf/cm<SP>2</SP>or more is added.
