PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus capable of recording the moving images with little noise for which lens driving sound of zoom or focus operations is not recorded in photographing the moving images using an electronic camera. SOLUTION: In the electronic camera, a snap moving image mode is provided as a special effect mode, and by automatically interrupting moving image recording during the period of performing a zoom operation in moving image photographing in the snap moving image mode, the moving images with little noise in which the lens driving sound of the zoom or focus operations is not recorded are recorded. Also, since images during the zoom operation are not recorded in the moving image photographing in the snap moving image mode, a compact moving image file suitable for posting on a homepage or on a video-sharing site is attained.
