The present invention discloses a method and a system for configuring the Discontinuous Reception (DRX) parameters. The method includes that: a User Equipment (UE) initiates a service request, an evolved NodeB obtains the service characteristic parameters and establishes the mapping relationships between said service characteristic parameters and the DRX parameter configurations; said evolved NodeB configures the UE by a Radio Resource Control (RRC) connection and reconfiguration process and the Media Access Control (MAC) layer by an interior configuration process both, with said DRX parameters corresponding to the service characteristic parameters. The invention matches the UE service characteristic parameters with the DRX parameter configurations and maps a more reasonable DRX cycle parameters. Accordingly, the invention can maximize the DRX power-saving function, improve the utilization of the idle port resources, and increase the system throughput.
