<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protector comfortably usable even in summer season or the like, and adequately protecting an occupant. <P>SOLUTION: The protector P is mounted on a driver D getting in a vehicle. The protector P includes: a cover plate 22 covering the outer part of a prescribed portion of the upper half body of the driver D when worn, and formed of a plate-like body having rigidity capable of protecting the driver D; a holding member 11 made of flexible sheet material and capable of putting the cover plate 22 on the driver; and an airbag 48 housed on the back side of the cover plate 22 and projecting from the cover plate 22 and expanding when operated.
