<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a variable illumination apparatus capable of obtaining wide light alignment characteristics. <P>SOLUTION: The variable illumination apparatus 2001 includes a first board 141, a second board 142, a surrounding wall 2143, a partition wall 2148, a liquid lens 50 and a light source. The second board is disposed opposite to the first board across a given gap. A surrounding wall is disposed between the first board and the second board, and has a first opening 2143a and a second opening 2143b opposite to each other; and the inner surface 2143c of the surrounding wall is tapered so that an opening area widens from the first opening toward the second opening. The partition wall partitions a liquid chamber 148 into a plurality of areas, the liquid chamber being encircled with the first board, the second board, and the surrounding wall, and is perpendicular to the first board and second board. The liquid lens 50 has an electrically deformable lens surface 151 formed by the interface between two types of liquids stored in each of the plurality of areas and having different refraction factors, and the light source emits a light from the side of the first opening toward the liquid lens. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
