PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rope inspection tool which can easily, quickly and accurately detect a slight deformation of a rope, and can also detect a deformation in the case of bending without a change in the rope diameter. SOLUTION: The rope inspection device includes: two rope contact members 3 and 4 set with given spaces in the longitudinal direction of the rope 1 and in contact with the outer periphery of the rope; a support member 7 supporting these rope contact members 3 and 4 and moved along the longitudinal direction of the rope 1; a rope opposing member 5 disposed in the support member 7, and having an end portion thereof opposed to the outer periphery of the rope, arranged at a position apart from the outer periphery of the rope by a minute distance than a straight line connecting two contact portions of the two rope contact members 3 and 4; and a colorant holding part 6 disposed at the end portion of the rope opposing member 5 and holding a colorant. When the rope 1 is dislocated beyond the minute distance toward the colorant holding part 6, the colorant holding part 6 contacts the rope 1 and colors the rope 1. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
