PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrophilic member excelling in defogging property, durability of self-cleaning property, hot water resistance and rubbing resistance. SOLUTION: The hydrophilic member includes, on a polyester support, a hydrophilic layer formed of a hydrophilic composition containing a hydrophilic polymer having at least one kind of hydrolyzable silyl group. The hydrophilic member is characterized in that a thermal shrinkage rate in an MD-direction in heating at 150°C for 30 minutes is 1.1-1.8% and that a thermal shrinkage rate in a TD-direction is -0.2-0.5%.
