<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an effect device capable of enhancing a frequency which simulates portamento. <P>SOLUTION: When an input audio signal switches from a consonant to a vowel and an input level of the switched vowel is greater than a threshold Lc, and a variable t is greater than time Ts, an audio effect signal A is generated. Here, the consonant is other than the vowel, that is, explosive sound, friction sound, nasal sound, and liquid sound. Even in such a state that switching from the consonant to the vowel of the audio signal is a changing state from the nasal sound and liquid sound, which are voiced sound, to the vowel which is the voiced sound, the audio effect signal A is generated.
