<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that since it is necessary to reprint a page whose text in the last line has gone to the next page due to document edition, and fixing ink to a sheet is time consuming and the large amounts of ink is consumed in a page including a background color page with whole surface high ink concentration, the burden of a user due to the fact that such resources as time, ink and sheets required for reprinting are consumed than necessary is large, and that the lost of failure costs is large as well as the sum man-hours especially in a largely sized printer printing. <P>SOLUTION: The setting of print useless pages is performed (401), and the display of a pertinent page is performed on a print preview screen. As for the setting of useless pages, blank pages (402), pages whose print areas are small (403), and pages whose print areas are large (404) are set.
