<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a failure determining device of high pressure fuel pumps, properly performing failure determination on each of the first and second high pressure fuel pumps provided parallel to each other while specifying which of excessive discharge failure and non-discharge failure is the failure pattern. <P>SOLUTION: The failure determining device 1 of the high pressure fuel pumps determines the failure of the first high pressure fuel pump 30 while specifying the failure pattern in a state that operation of the second high pressure fuel pump 40 is stopped when the absolute value ¾DPF¾ of a difference between fuel pressure PF, which is feedback-controlled so that it reaches a target fuel pressure PFCMD, and the target fuel pressure PFCMD is larger than a threshold value PREF (steps 6, 7, 21-25). When determining that no failure occurs in the first high pressure fuel pump 30, the failure determination device performs the failure determination of the second high pressure fuel pump 40 in the same manner (steps 27-34). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
