PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charger which can efficiently charge a secondary battery in a simple configuration by using a solar cell as a power source. SOLUTION: In the charger 100, an input voltage feedback circuit 7 changes the set value of the input voltage of a solar cell 1 by a signal from a microcomputer 11. That is, the microcomputer 11 sets different input voltage set values V1-V5 in order in the resistors 7e-7h of the input feedback circuit 7, depending upon whether they output low signals or not. Furthermore, it measures a charge current to each voltage value, and sets the input voltage of a solar cell 1 at charge to an input voltage value, by which the maximum charge current allowable can be obtained, according to the voltage of a battery. It can input the maximum input voltage among the set values into the solar cell 1 by repeating this setting in every set time, thus it is possible to charge the secondary battery efficiently in a simple and low-cost configuration by the resistors 7e-7h.
