METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SHAPE MEMORY ALLOY COIL SPRING

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a shape memory alloy coil spring the coil diameter of which is small and the value of a wire diameter/a coil diameter (d/D) of which is large, which is further made smaller in the coil diameter by imparting twist deformation by rotating both ends of the coil spring having a small coil diameter. SOLUTION: The manufacture of the shape memory alloy coil spring includes: a stage where the coil spring 10 is manufactured; a diameter contracting stage where the coil diameter is contracted by fixing both ends of the coil spring 10 with two grips 20, 30 and rotating the two grips 20, 30 in the opposite direction each other and giving torsion deformation to the coil and a heat treating stage where shape memory heat treatment is applied to the coil spring 10 through the diameter contracting stage.
