PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus configured to obtain a high-glossiness toner image by overlaying a glossiness imparting material on a recording material, performing fixation across the glossiness imparting material, and then, separating the glossiness imparting member from the recording material after the fixation process, wherein, even if using a thin glossiness imparting material which probably winds around a heating roller, the glossiness imparting material is prevented from winding around the heating roller, thereby further improving heat efficiency in fixation. SOLUTION: The sheet-like glossiness imparting material S2 is configured to be inserted into and caught at a fixation nip at an oblique angle in a plane view in an extending direction of the fixation nip, then, the total area of the portion of a corner S2a being the leading end of the glossiness imparting material S2 in the extending direction of the fixation nip is reduced, accordingly, the total adhesion of the leading end is reduced, then, even if using the thin glossiness imparting material which probably winds around the heating roller 141 in a conventional manner, the leading end of the glossiness imparting material S2 is separated from the heating roller so as to prevent the material S2 from winding around the heating roller 141.
