The invention relates to two biodegradable geotextiles produced from fibers extracted from alfa grass (from the Arabic halfa) "Stipa tenacissima L." and from dwarf palm tree (doum) "Chamaerops humilis L." According to the invention, the textile fibers are extracted from the alfa grass by a chemical process, the dismantling of the lignin is carried out in a basic medium at precise temperature and pressure, while the doum leaves are mechanically defibrated. The fibers thus extracted from alfa grass and from doum are spun and pleated, respectively, in order to produce biodegradable geotextile nets that can be attached to the ground. Said novel geotextiles represent a real solution for the exploitation of these two plant resources which are abundant in the Mediterranean basin and specifically in Moroccan territory.
