Apparatus for cutting packed articles from a sheet 4 of packed articles to form rows of packages or individual packages comprises at least one rotatable cutter 2, means 5 for driving the sheet 4 past the cutter 2, and freely rotatable holder means 3 of lesser diameter than the cutter 2 for engaging the sheet 4 and pressing it into contact with the drive means 5. As shown, the sheet 4 is cut into strips by two cutters 2, driven on a shaft 1 at a greater speed than a pair of guide wheels 5. The rotatable holders 3 are retained on a sleeve 14 by retainer rings 16. Alternatively, Figs. 3-4 (not shown), the holders 3 may be corrugated to improve their radial elasticity, the rings 16 being then dispensed with. Means (not shown) may be provided to cut the rows of articles formed, into single packages. |
