Grounding bush for a rotor busbar in a generator

A generator 10 includes a rotor structure 24 having a rotor frame 34 that supports field turns 46 and a rectifier assembly 36, the rotor frame including an opening 48 through which a bus bar 42 passes and electrically connects the field turns and the rectifier assembly, and a grounding bushing 52 electrically connects the bus bar to the rotor frame. The bush comprised a metallic body (aluminium) with a contact ring 50 and a flexible contact band 54 ( both of copper) which respectively engage the frame and the busbar. The contact ring includes deflectable corrugations which aid insertion and enhance contact. An insulating bushing section 58 (fig 4) may be present. The arrangement prevents parasitic capacitances within the rotor circuit building a voltage potential to the frame.
