<p>Cement clinker is produced by mixing the cement raw materials with 5-15% ground cement, adjusting the moisture content so that sufficient water is present for the hydration of the cement, pressing the mixture into blocks under a pressure of 100-500 kp/cm2, stacking the blocks on platform-wagons, as in brick manufacture, and passing the wagons through a tunnel oven fired at the temperature needed for burning the cement clinker. Heat loss and contamination of the atmosphere with cement dust are greatly reduced. The temperature during the firing can be more accurately controlled. The tunnel ovens can be filed more efficiently than the rotating ovens normally used. The ordinary brick-making plant can be used.</p> |
