In the case where external apparatuses such as a human body sensing sensor, an illuminance sensor, and a dimmer are connected and an illumination control is performed, the cost rising is avoided, and the general versatility is improved. An illumination lighting apparatus 11 is configured by adding an input signal processing unit 119 and an external-apparatus determining unit 120 to a usual electronic ballast. An external apparatus 12 which is connected to the illumination lighting apparatus 11 includes a human body sensing sensor 121, an illuminance sensor 122, and a dimmer 123. Each of these apparatuses outputs a lighting operation control signal and external-apparatus determination signal which are unique to the apparatus, to the input signal processing unit 119 and the external-apparatus determining unit 120. The external-apparatus determining unit 120 determines the kind of an external apparatus connected to the illumination lighting apparatus 11, based on the external-apparatus determination signal. The input signal processing unit 119 processes the lighting operation control signal in accordance with the determined kind of the external apparatus, and sends an output control signal to an inverter controlling unit 118.
