PURPOSE: An engine cooling apparatus for a vehicle using an electronic control water pump and a control method thereof are provided to improve service life of an engine, minimize loss of power, improve fuel efficiency, and reduce harmful exhaust gas by preventing initial abrasion of an engine. CONSTITUTION: An engine cooling apparatus for a vehicle using an electronic control water pump comprises a radiator(1), an electronic control water pump(3), and a 2- way valve(5). The radiator cools cooling water. The electronic control water pump circulates the cooling water in the engine and the radiator. The electronic control water pump is installed in the cooling water supply flow path connected to the cooling water outlet of the radiator. The 2- way valve is installed in the cooling water outlet of the electronic control water pump. The 2- way valve can control the cooling water supplied to the engine and the cooling water supplied to a heater core.
