<p>A fixing device (20) for fixing an image on a recording medium includes an endless flexible fixing member (21) formed into a loop, a heat conductive member (22) disposed within the loop formed by the fixing member (21), a heater (25, 45) disposed near the heat conductive member (22) to heat the heat conductive member (22), a pressing member (31) pressing the fixing member (21) against the heat conductive member (22) to form a fixing nip, a temperature sensor (28) detecting a temperature of the fixing member (21), and a lubricant (40) disposed between the fixing member (21) and the heat conductive member (22). The heater (25, 45) heats the heat conductive member (22) to heat the lubricant (40) with the fixing member (21) stopped. The fixing member (21) rotates after heating of the heat conductive member (22) by the heater (25, 45).</p> |
