A stab plate connection for use in a subsea wellhead and activation by a ROV. The connection method consists of providing two plates, a first fixed to the underwater structure and a second carried on a tool. The tool is engaged with the first part, and used to bring the first and second plates together. The tool then locks the two together by engaging a portion on the first part with a portion carried by the second part, the tool is then disengaged and removed. The method of disconnection consists of engaging the tooling with the first part, using the tooling to disengage the plates by disengaging the engaged portions, using the tooling to separate the two plates and remove the second part. The locking portion may comprise a collar engaged by the tooling and comprising a bayonet fitting for engaging the second plate when rotated. |
