PURPOSE: A heat pump is provided to prevent the overheating phenomenon with respect to coolant by forming a by-pass pipe, which directly supplies coolant to a compressor, to at heat pump. CONSTITUTION: A heat pump includes a compressor(11), a first feed water heat-exchanger(13), a first throttle(15), an evaporator, a second feed water heat-exchanger(21), a feed water pipe(27), a coolant pipe(25), and a low pressure compensating valve(23). The compressor compresses coolant. The first feed water heat-exchanger implement a heat-exchanging operation between the coolant and feed water. The first throttle expands the coolant. The evaporator evaporates the coolant by implementing a heat-exchanging operation between the coolant and external air. The second feed water heat-exchanger implements a heat-exchanging operation between the coolant and the feed water. If the temperature of the external air is lower than pre-set temperature, the low pressure compensating valve is closed.
