Pile fabric is made by continuously feeding pile yarn 8 from bobbins 9, by way of rollers 11, intermittently advancing the yarn by rollers 13 and cutting the yarn to pile length by a reciprocating cutter 15 which consolidates the newly cut yarn against previously cut yarn and embeds the yarn in plastics material 2 supplied at 3 onto a conveyor 4 that has side plates 18 to contain the yarn. |
