1,204,557. Cartridge belts; cartridges. DYNAMIT NOBEL A.G. 19 Dec., 1968 [9 Jan., 1968], No. 60518/68. Headings F3A and F3C. A charge belt comprises a plurality of cartridges which are firmly connected at their rearward end by flexible links 1, each link having a width (as measured in the plane normal to the axis of an adjacent cartridge) which is greater than its thickness (as measured parallel to the axis of an adjacent cartridge), the belt being capable of being rolled in a manner such that each cartridge can become angled with respect to an adjacent cartridge whilst the axes thereof remain in the same plane. In the construction shown, the rear end portions 3 of the cartridges are each provided with a projection 4 which co-operates with a hole 2 provided in the flexible strip 1 which comprises integral links. The cartridges are finally welded to the strip by ultrasonics, the cartridges and strip being of the same material, that is either metal or plastics material. The cartridges may be provided with terminal clips which pass through the strip and are bent over to effect the mounting of the cartridges (Figs. 2a, 2b, not shown). The cartridges may be formed of two parts, a rear end portion connected to a powder cup. The rear end portions may be connected by flexible webs which are flush with or project rearwardly from the rear end portion (Figs. 3a, 3b, 4a, 4b, not shown). The belt may be formed from pairs of linked powder cups and linked rear end portions (Fig. 5, not shown). The powder cups may be provided integrally with the flexible strip and the flexible strip is so shaped at its end that a further flexible strip may be easily connected thereto (Figs. 6a, 6b, not shown). The flexible strip is also provided with a plurality of holes or a plurality of slots (Figs. 7a, 7b, not shown). The rear end portions of the cartridges to be used with powder cups comprises a shaped, rimmed formation having a pair of terminal clips (Figs. 8a, 8b, not shown). |
