PURPOSE: A method for providing a supplementary service during a telephone call using a mobile terminal, and apparatus thereof are provided to allow a subscriber to a desirable supplementary service whenever originating a call. CONSTITUTION: A sending switchboard(200) processes a basic service, performs a location registration procedure and a handoff procedure, and interworks with another network in order to provide a mobile communication service for a sending terminal(800) through the connection with a originating base station system(100). An originating call received from the sending terminal is transferred to a menu providing server through the sending switchboard. The menu providing server provides the menu item for a supplementary service section to the sending terminal. The menu providing server transfers the originating call to a supplementary service providing server(700).
