A continuous chain press comprises two endless presser belts 30, 31, revolving in opposite senses, each composed of presser bars 33 connected chain-link-wise to each other and without gaps in the region of the press faces, each presser belt being mounted on a carrier frame 7 (Fig. 1, not shown) said frames being mounted slidably relative to each other in a structure 1, wherein on each of the said carrier frames at least two endless support bands 42 are mounted parallel to each other symmetrically to the longitudinal centre line of the presser belt and lying between the carrier frame 7 and presser belt; wherein between each support band and presser belt a flexible endless steel strip. 48 is provided having punched slots 49 arranged with equal spacings, in each of which slots a roller 40 is mounted freely rotatably over which rollers 40 the presser bars 33 slide, the spacing between adjacent slots 49 amounting at the most to a third of the width of a presser bar 33 and wherein lateral guide means for steel strip 48 are provided. The lateral guide means may each have two parallel longitudinal slots 46, 47, alongside steel strip 48. Fixed to each support band 42 may be a second band 41 consisting of two longitudinal strips including between them a longitudinal gap open upwardly; these longitudinal strips overlap the ends of the rollers; and on the underside of each presser bar 33 support pads 39 are fixed, the length of which is equal to the width of presser bar 39, and wherein each of said support pads engages in a longitudinal slot and rests on the rollers. |
