A sliding clasp fastener has inter-locking elements 4 made in helical coil formation from a plastic monofilament 2 and held by chain stitch seam 3 to stringer tapes 1. The seam passes through the spaces Oe between the element turns with the loops 5 of the stitch only passing round those element arms 6 in contact with the tapes. The upper and lower element arms 6 may be squeezed together, Fig. 2, and welded at 10 to hold the seam in position. |
