Packing powder for the sintering of pulverulent coatings on metal bodies under isostatic pressure consists of a material, which does not sinter at the temp. applied (pref. SiC, Si3N4, BN or C; grains 50 mu). This method is superior to the known coating methods, including the isostatic compressing using gaseous or liquid pressure-transfer media (as the latter involves the cumbersome use of an impermeable, deformable envelope), esp. in the case when complex metallic shapes are to be uniformly coated. Reaction accelerators and substances reacting the metallic substrate may be introduced into the casting layer. The pulverulent pressure-transfer material may contain detachable components, which facilitate the sintering. Pore-free coatings firmly adhering to the metall ic substrate can be rapidly formed at relatively low temps.
|
