1314121 Valves BENDIX CORP 19 April 1971 [27 April 1970] 26781/71 Heading F2V A check valve, particularly for the vacuum braking system of a vehicle operating from the intake manifold, comprises a housing 20 with inlet and outlet ports 8, 14, and a flexible valve member 28 overlying the inlet port. The valve chamber 12 is closed by a cap 38 inserted in an opening in the chamber and retained against possible backfiring pressures occurring in the manifold, by an annular retaining member 16 secured to the housing. The housing 20 and member 16 are preferably of nylon, secured by sonic welding of a projection (48), Fig. 4 (not shown), on the member 16, to an enlarged rim 30 of the housing. The cap is normally retained by a groove 32 having a flat inner surface 34 and a coned outer surface 36. The valve member is retained over a stem 22 on the housing, by a tabular projection 40 integral with the cap. |
