PURPOSE: A device and a method for improving a video picture quality are provided to improve a picture quality by automatically adjusting a videos signal after obtaining a video picture quality improving parameter. CONSTITUTION: A method for improving a video picture quality is comprised as follows. A first step is to obtain a video picture quality improving parameter of corresponding content by checking information of reproduction content if a video picture quality improving mode is set. A second step is to improve a video picture quality by variably adjusting a video signal process according to the obtained parameter. A signal processing unit(23) is for signal processing content data as a video signal. A storing unit is for storing a video picture quality improving parameter which includes an adjustment for adjusting at least one among a contrast, sharpness, brightness of a video signal.
