<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-purifying treatment apparatus and a method, using a vegetable-based activated carbon with small carbon dioxide emission load. <P>SOLUTION: The water-purifying treatment apparatus treats water containing disinfection byproduct precursor organic matter which forms a disinfection byproduct by chlorine disinfection, wherein the water-purifying treatment apparatus has a flocculator, an ozone oxidation treatment apparatus and an activated-carbon adsorption treatment apparatus, which are connected in order, and also can have a sand filter between the flocculator and the ozone oxidation treatment apparatus, and/or in a latter part of the activated-carbon adsorption treatment apparatus, and wherein an activated carbon used for the activated-carbon adsorption treatment apparatus, a raw material of which is a coconut shell based material, is spherical molded activated carbon having a BET specific surface area of 1,300±200 m<SP>2</SP>/g, a pore volume in the mesopore area of the pore size of 2-50 nm of 0.15±0.05 cm<SP>3</SP>/g and a pore volume in the macropore area of the pore size of ≥50 nm of 0.40±0.10 cm<SP>3</SP>/g. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
