<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a 3D image processing apparatus which performs display control so that a viewer can recognize a relation between a viewing range for 3D image and the current viewing position, and a control method thereof. <P>SOLUTION: A 3D image processing apparatus 100 has a function of presenting a positional relation between a viewing position of the viewer and the viewing range for 3D image. A detection part 115 detects the viewing position, and a range information storage part 116 stores information showing the range for 3D image. A position display image generation part 17 generates data of a position display image including image information showing the detected viewing position and image information showing the viewing range. The data are transmitted to an image display part 107 via an image output control part 106 and is displayed as an image.
