Disclosed is an organic luminescent element provided with: a substrate (2); an organic electroluminescent element (3) that is formed on one surface of the substrate (2) and that has a light-emitting section (5) that emits light toward the substrate (2); and a lens (1) attached to the other surface of the substrate (2). The lens (1) has an index of refraction equal to or greater than that of the substrate (2). The area of the surface of the light-emitting section (5) that is parallel to the substrate surface is less than the area of the substrate (2) to which the lens (1) is attached. The normal (La) of the substrate surface (2a), going in the direction from the light-emitting section (5) to the substrate (2), forms an angle (?) of at least 60° with a line (L1) that connects the edge of the light-emitting section (5) with the edge of the lens (1).
