PURPOSE: An edge type backlight unit and a liquid crystal display device using the same are provided to increase contrast characteristic and implement local dimming operation. CONSTITUTION: A first light guide plate is formed in a first lenticular lens array(201). The light is injected in one side of the first light guide plate. A plurality of first light sources is controlled by the amount of light. A second light guide plate is formed in a second lenticular lens array. The light is injected in one side of the second light guide plate. A plurality of second light sources is controlled by the amount of light. |
