An image is formed using a photosensitive heavy metal salt pref. silver halide, together with an image forming cpd. which is decomposed by the free metal from the salt. The image may be formed either by prolonged exposure, heating to 65-150 degrees C or exposure to red-infra-red 600-800 nm. The image forming cpd. is a metal chelate of an organic acid; the metal may be Ag, Cu, Ni, Sn or Au. Prefd. is a system contg. 1 mol. of silver ethylenediaminotetraacetate to 1-4 mols of silver bromide, both being present in an emulsion of pH less than 5. Dry developable system having greater sensitivity than other thermographic systems.
|
