PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coater for applying a coating liquid to a web-like substrate which enables applying the coating liquid to the web-like substrate with high precision. SOLUTION: The coater 20 is used to apply the coating liquid 7 to the web-like substrate 1 being carried. The coater has a carrying means 30 for carrying a substrate, a discharge head 40 arranged along the carrying path of the substrate carried by the carrying means and a moving and supporting means 50 for supporting the discharge head in such a way as to be movable in the carrying direction of the substrate carried by the carrying means.
