Disclosed is a powder for thermal spraying, which comprises granulated-sintered particles of cermet, and contains tungsten carbide or chromium carbide and a silicon-containing iron-based alloy. In the powder for thermal spraying, the content of the alloy is preferably 5 to 40 mass%. In this case, the alloy contains silicon in an amount of 0.1 to 10 mass%.
