A gaming method and apparatus for motivating physical activity

The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for motivating physical activity when playing computer games. Generic physical activity of a user is monitored (eg jumping, running) to determine a physical activity value. The physical activity value is converted into a value for a game commodity, such as speed, movement, life, of a character in the computer. This motivates the user to be physically active in association with playing the computer game.
