<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ammonia gas sensor having little fluctuation of sensitivity caused by H<SB>2</SB>O in detection object gas, having excellent durability during heating, and having excellent ammonia selectivity. <P>SOLUTION: This ammonia gas sensor 200A includes a solid electrolyte body 6 having oxygen ion conductivity, and a detection electrode 2 and a reference electrode 4 provided respectively on the surface of the solid electrolyte body. The detection electrode includes Au as much as 70 mass% or more, and includes one or more kinds of metal oxides to which only oxygen is bonded, which is selected from a group of Bi and Mn.
