PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a silane coupling agent, by which the silane coupling agent lowering the hysteresis loss of a rubber composition and improving the abrasion resistance of the rubber composition can be obtained in a high yield, while preventing the production of byproducts. SOLUTION: The method for producing the silane coupling agent is characterized by including a process for reacting a silane compound having a haloalkyl group and an aminoalkoxy group with an alkali metal sulfide to obtain a silane compound having a sulfide group or a polysulfide group and an aminoalkoxy group.
