The hinge (1) has a hinge lower part (2) connected to a vehicle body, and a tiltably connected hinge upper part (3) connected to a vehicle flap e.g. front flap or bonnet. A stopper element (11) is fastened to the hinge lower part by a rivet joint for limitation of movement of the hinge upper part. The element has a stop screw holder and a stop screw screwably arranged in the holder. The upper part is contacted with the stop screw, and the screw holder is fastened to the lower part. The element is partially deformable by application of force on the flap by the upper part. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a hinge.
