A garment for a prospective purchaser of the paper pattern for making the garment to try on comprises a front panel 11, of the selected style, rear armhole bands 19 and adjustable harness straps 21, 22. Side strips 16, 17 give the appearance of a whole garment and the armholes are larger and the shoulders wider than average to accommodate a large range of sizes. A neckband if provided is adjustable at the rear at 14 and rows of snap fasteners 34 allow adjustment of the length of the garment. The straps 21, 22 each comprise a strip of elastic enclosed in a fabric tube. A sleeve for the garment comprises a front panel the edges of which are joined by one or more lengths of elastic (42), Fig. 5 (not shown). The simulate a two-piece dress or dress and jacket and additional bodic panel is provided in front of the full length front panel and secured to it along shoulder and side seams and the armholes. The front panel of a two piece dress is formed in two parts joined at (45) in the waist region (Fig. 7, not shown); the bodice panel of a dress and jacket is open at the front to simulate the jacket. |
